E36, E34, B10 ???????
Discussion
I have long heard people talking about BMW's in terms such as 'E36 M3'.
I know the 'E36' bit tells you what version of the particular BMW it is, in this a 3 series, but I have never been able towork out which is which. Can anybody give me some examples of which Beemers correspond to which E-numbers?
That way they'll start making sense to me instead of just looking like the entrants to the World Artificial Food Additives Championship.

It's generally in age, E30 bmw was the series 1, E36 series 2 (the slippier one), then I think it was E40 and now might be E46(?). I'm not sure but I know the number is not the series, it's the letter. Do a google and I'm sure you'll get the answers. (B10 is an official Alpina model)
molemol is kind of right.
There wasn't an E40. And there was a 3 series before the E30 called E21.
