just been for a test drive in an m3 at bmw in parsons green, sw london. they have a brand new csl in the showroom. asked the salesman if the csl sales were poor. he said they were and said if someone made them a stupid offer, they would probably take it. i said how stupid, he said £5000 less than it's up for (£58500). at the end of my test drive, i asked if he was serious about this, he said he was, and he could be quoted on it. so, anyone with 53K burning a hole in their pocket, ask for jason quigley at used car sales, parsons green.

north oxford garage offered me 9% off a brand new one about 2 months back. that euqated to something like £5100

i think used ones, even almost new, low mileage are probably obtainable for an offer of 48-49k, dealers are keen to sell.

still at that money a year old 911 is possible and the drive is totally different

A friend of mine has a current M3 and was in the dealership for some new parts (upgrades) and was talking to a salesman about the CSL they have in. The salesman asked if he was interested in it, with a part ex. My mates says possibly, if you can knock about 7 grand off it......the sales guy led him away saying, let's see what we can do !!!!!

Are they that hard to shift ???

(He didn't do it in the end.....)

Yes, the 20k premium over a regular M3 seems to be putting people off.

The lowest price I have seen was £47k for a recently run-in car in the Sunday Times.
A couple of dealers have second user vehicles at £49k and will I guess be open to offers.
The character of the CSL is much closer to a GT3 than a C2, and the Mk1 GT3 has just pulled one over on the Mk2 GT3 according to Evo, so possibly a BMW "GT3" is a bargain for the same price as a 2002 C2 !
I paid full list for mine --- and it is FFFFantastic.
Ex C4, Boxster S, P1, Elise, Caterham with BDG, Integra, 205 GTi, Clio 16v, GTi-6, C4S, RS Turbo, RS2000, --- I forget ....
What next ? Heaven knows. According to the mags 0-120 the CLS is only 1 second behind a 996TT so ....it's fast enough. And it's a brave man the hangs out the tail on a 996TT !
Buy one !

ok...

its not that they are hard to shift its just it is a very limited market place. there are not thousands of people with a spare £60,000 to spend.

After you have a car in stock for 60 days any other dealer can pinch it off you. So if you have a car over 60 days old you pay for it to keep it. if you get an enquiry on it you blow everything out of it to get a registration as this is what we are here to do - register cars.

So yes discounts are available and hefty. Ask about a 745Li and see what you get offered...

scoobs,

I still like the 745 - might have to ask about the price.

Mind you I wandered into the local dealers on Saturday and they had the new 6 in coupe and cabriolet.

And there I was content to wait for the new M4 when it lands!

M4 - absolutley bu99er all mate.

only that they may build it due to some american v8 race series that you have to have road cars of the same version for.. dont really know...

i dont even think its definatley going to be built

The numbers for the series though will be as follows im told: odd numbers 4 drs and "normal" cars.

enen numbers are niche product

So the 3 series coupe and convertibles will evolve in to 4 series. So the M3 may just become the M4.

alledgedly they are building a 3 series v8 ie the m4

more info when i hear sir..
