Does anyone know how to switch Xenon dipped beams over from RHD to LHD for a trip to Europe? The owners handbook says take to dealer but I wondered if it could be done easily oneself. BTW its an M3 CSL in case the method is model specific.

It involves replacing the whole unit which either means a trip to the dealer with a wad of cash to supply & fit, or a trip to the dealer with a wad of cash to supply it for you to fit them yourself.

It's not just BMW though!

I don't believe that to be the case. The impression I have is that there is some method of switching the existing lamps. Of course I could easily be wrong.

Suggs, it is a fiddly job, but not difficult: have a look behind the headlamp units and you will see that there is a black domed cap on the back of each one with a release catch. Open it up and peer inside and you should see a vertical white switch. The switches do not give tactile feedback, but you can tell when you have moved them. Just reverse the two swiches and your lights are adjusted for the continent.

It was easier with my first M3 - then there was a switch on the back of each lamp unit and you didn't have to open them up.

Thanks Zod,
Not too hard at all when you know where to look.

Anyone know how much it actually costs as I'm not much of fiddler? I have been continuously flashed on the French roads out of Calais. It's a right pain.
