e30 major problem. help!
Discussion
Yesterday, I changed the timing chain tensioner on my e30 318s. Very easy job.
However, I went to start the engine, it turned over but wouldnt start!
I tried again, this time it didnt even turn over, just the starter motor doing its stuff.
Ive checked the fuses, which are all fine.
Even if I had monumentaly fd up this very easy job, it would surely still try and fire.
Im at the end of my tether withthis bloody car.
Any suggestions,

Is the engine now not turning at all ? If so it sounds a bit like the tensioner wasnt tensioning and maybe the chain jumped a sprocket or 2 allowing the pistons to meet the valves. I had exactly the same thing with an E30 320i and it jumped a couple of teeth on the belt. If you were only using teh starter the damage shouldnt be that bad but you should take the head off and check really. Having said that I just reset mine and put it back together and hoped for the best. It ran for a couple years with no probs.
