Just traded my 2003 TVR T350 for a 2001 BMW X5 4.4 Sport. Long story, don't ask!

Well I seem from the manuals and basic guessing to understand most of the great options the original owner specified with the exception of the TM button/dial on my dashboard.

I understand this is a Traffic Master system, but how does it work, any website I can go look at, does it require a subscription, if so where can I get one from and is it worth it?

Oh yes and hi everybody, I hope the BMW forum is as helpful and friendly as the TVR bunch I've just left.

Thanks

Tim

Well apparently what I should be looking for is for the system/Sat nav disk to support TMC.

There are conflicting stories as to whether the disks supplied by BMW support TMC. Anyone had any success?

You can always get hold of TMC supporting CDs, but dealers won't sell them to you, so you need a friend with one and a CD burner (not that I condone this of course )

The Traffic Master system is completely separate and is utterly useless. I know - I have it and never use it. It is not integrated into the navigation and uses a completely separate sysytem that replaces the navigation on the screen. It cannot therefore calculate diversions. It is also far less user-friendly than TMC.
