OK chaps, here's the idea.

On an E30, would it be feasible to replace the engine with the 3 litre V8 from the early '90s 7 series (cant remember engine code, but think it's M60)?

is this engine tunable (i.e: does anyone do any bits off the shelf?)

how would the gearbox/driveshaft/diff stand up to this? would they need to go too?

muchos gracias...

The Alpina B6 was performed on the E30 m3 and used a tuned B10 engine or in code numbers a 3.5litre M30 engine from a 635/535/735. The reason the M3 was used was that the gearbox and diff on the M3 is taken from an e28 M5 and can handle up to about 350bhp. A lot of suspenson work has to be done to handle the extra 30kg's that the bigger engine puts on the car. There was also an Alpina 333, but there is only 1 in the UK. The 3 litre V8 is no more powerfull than the 3.5 straight six and it's a lot more exspensive to tune and service.
