Hi all

I am thinking of using Birds in Uxbridge for some improvements on the M3.

Can anybody give me there opinion on the quality of the service etc. Please e-mail off line if you have any negative comments!

Thanks

Hi Guy,
I have been there to chat about tweaks to my M3, and while they clearly know their stuff, and have very good facilities, some of their prices will take your breath away!!

Never heard a bad word said about them apart from people gulping at their prices!

What do you want to get done? Might be worth a chat to Joe at www.hyperturismo.com as he *really* knows his stuff when it comes to M3s, and his prices are very reasonable indeed.

He does some v nice E46 bits such as bespoke AP racing brakes (made exclusively for them) and other such niceties!

Tell him I sent you and you might get a better deal!

Just looking at what they have to offer. If I have to pay high prices I expect the service/ expertise to go with it.

They seem to just sell Hartge stuff which is very good, and as far as I could tell, they do have the expertise to set stuff up properly.

Might be worth a look at www.bm3w.co.uk - oodles of E46 owners on there.

Used to take my e30 there and without doubt I wouldn't have taken it anywhere else.

As mentioned above they are expensive but I spent more with another e30 specialist (no names but they're supposed to be legendary...) trying to diagnose a fault to the tune of £1,000 when Birds fixed it for £70.

IMHO worth every (expensive) penny.

I went to Birds and had a sniff around. Kevin is a nice enough chap, maybe not the most customer facing person on the planet but still friendly enough and knowledgable. Their prices seemed a tad high, but I had the opportunity to chat to Harriet (the sister of the owner - don't ask, but yes she was quite foxy) who does PR for them and she did illustrate that the standard labour rate wasn't *that* astronomical. Maybe the high prices are because they tend to deal with quite expensive tuning bits and do a good job. If you wanted an 840 supercharging it is the kind of place to leave you 8k lighter not 4k, but the job will be a good one.
