New 7 Series Auto-Transmission Questions

Hi Beemer Boffins,

Couple of questions re: 7 series auto transmission.

1) Is the accelerator a fly-by-wire item?
2) Is there a software patch to smooth this system out as my boss' '02 745i is apparently very slow to kickdown/is generally jerky when changing gear.
