A guy at work is looking at getting a BMW M Coupe, i sugested that he could get an Exige for a simlar ammount and he's now torn between the 2. What would be your thoughts? I asume the BMW is quicker 0 - 60 and beyond and the Exige is faster around corners.

Two completely different cars. If he wants the car for everyday use then the M Coupe would probably be best, if it's weekend/track car then the Exige will be ideal.

I think Exige is actually quicker to 60 and around corners.

Both are great cars but for very different reasons.

I would go for the Mcoupe, but then i'm biased, I've got one.

check out www.z3mcoupe.com for details on the breadvan. It'll be lots more practical with a big boot and loads of fun to drive, and I should think quite a bit quicker. The other day I did a good job of keeping up with a 5ltr Chimaera!!

Exige is quicker all the way to about 120mph.

If he wants to keep his hearing and his teeth then the Exige is a no-no, plus he doesn't get traction control, electric everything and BMW reliability.

No traction control in the M-Coupe either.

I guess I am pretty qualified to comment since I had a 2001 S54 Engined MCoupe and now have an Exige. I should point out tho' that the Breadvan was replaced with an Exige AND a LupoGTi. You have to be a special kind of nutter to use the Exige as a daily driver (esp on YokoAO48's - aquaplane-tastic!). I changed because I needed a city car for work and want to do a lot more track days in 2004 - thus a two car srategy.

I loved my Breadvan it was soooo engine dominated and what an engine to be dominated by! The MCoupe is definately a more accomplished roadcar but when you are in the mood nothing gets close to the Exige.

In summary if I could only have one car it would be an MCoupe but since I don't have to I love my current combo,...

Exige, LupoGTi and an MCoupe,..now you are talking,..I'm off to measure the drive!!(I wish).

hi the mcoupe is faster than the exige 0-60 0-100 and top end, but the exige would out handle the mc by miles.
the 0-60 time for the mc is 4.3 0-100 about 11sec.

if he gets a post 01 model it comes with dsc, the new m3 engine with 325bhp, satin finish wheels and longer service intervals.
only 56 post 01 models were made and 900 mcoupes in total so just as rare as the exige and just as head turning. the mc holds it price very well and will be a cult classic in years to come.

My personal choice would be the Mcoupe.
Weird car, but that adds to it.
The exige (as previously mentioned) is a cracker but if you want to retain the teeth in your head then go for the M.
