I am looking at a 328i touring tomorrow.
It's white, I kind of like white, but then again it's the colour of my company cars.
Is it BAD to buy a white car?

A lot of people will tell you "bad"!

Apparently, white is a bad colour for selling in the motor trade. However, I actually quite like white...I actually had 3 BMWs in white all at the sametime once!In fact, I still own a 325i Touring in white! I think white looks great when it's really clean and shiny! Difficult to beat on smaller BMWs in my opinion (BMW's team racing colour afterall?)...only trouble is...It's really difficult to keep "clean and shiny"!!!

So my vote is: "Yes!"....rest of the World will probably be "No!"

Im not a great fan of white cars, and would not buy one (unless it was for the track and it could then be signwritten to look like a racer)

My X5 is black and I'm told that black or white cars show the dirt the most.

Apart from that, I wouldn't be put off!

If you like it - then buy it....

Good luck

Yes Cotty...E30! Also, like yours a switchable auto! I actually don't mind it being auto. Granted manual would be quicker but it's quick enough and 'easy'!

Mines not as clean as yours though (115K miles) but it isn't bad. I have some rust on both front wheel arch rims...but I love this car! In fact, about a year ago (after just having spent £1400 on it!) I sold it to a guy I met on the E32 register. We still lived in Scotland at the time and he flew up for it. He then immediately spent another £1200...on 'bits'!!! (The guy was obsessional!...even renewed the gear selector surround "Too many hairs missing..."

Anyway, after 10 weeks he decided he had too many BMW cars and had just bought a BMW C1 Moped so needed the space, so he put it up for sale. I flew down and bought it back at his asking price!

I love that car...well actually that was until today when an oil service plus a 'few minor things' for the MOT came to the best part of £500!!!

Unfortunately, I don't have any pics readily available...but I do have a pic of my Mother's E30 320i (which I found for her) which is nicer than my 325i anyway! I'll try and post a pic of that...

By the way...I need to pick your brains on karting...my 8 year old has been doing it at our local track for about the last 8 months and I just bought another kart for my 6 year old...

Whats your local track?

Depends what you need to know. I dont run my own kart, I race with Club100 which is arrive and drive in 100cc TKM karts. Club100 take their own karts to the tracks we race at, with their own mechanics. www.club100.co.uk/

I also race with the Lloyds Motor Club in a prokart championship.

What I do know is a lot about is tracks around the country. The tracks I will be racing at this year are

1 Saturday 21st February Buckmore
2 Saturday 13th March Rye House
3 Saturday 3rd April Clay Pigeon
4 Saturday 29th May Lydd
5 Saturday 12th June Warden Law
6 Saturday 3rd July Ellough Park
7 Saturday 17th July Whilton Mill
8 Saturday 4th September Clay Pigeon
9 Saturday 18th September Fulbeck
10 Saturday 16th October Bayford Meadows
11 Saturday 13th November Buckmore Park

Hi Cotty

Our local track is at Rednal, Shropshire (we live only about 5 minutes away). You may not know it because it's not on any of the national race schedules yet. But I think they are hoping to run two legs of the Thunderkart championship there this year.
We're only allowed to run 4-strokes there (noise issues and local farming objections etc...even though it's in the middle of nowhere next to a semi-retired airfield where people fly WW2 planes etc from...even a Spitfire!). So it's all prokarts, Thunderkarts and Honda Cadets there at the moment.

Our nearest well-know track is Glan-y-Gors across the border from us in Wales...but we've only been to watch there so far.

How does my son(the 8 year old)go about getting a racing licence?

Thats a coincidence as Club100 held a round of their championship there last year, unfortunately I could not make it, but I hear it is a very good track

I assume you are referring to the ARKS (Association of Racing Kart Schools) test in which case you should take a look at www.arks.co.uk/ which lists the tracks that you can take the test at. If you are referring to an alternative licence then I am unable to help as I do not require a licence to race with Club100.

You may find www.karting.co.uk/ helpfull as they have a lot of information relating to tracks, licenses etc.

The only cars that I tend to keep are BMW's.
Everything else goes within a couple of months. I guess I had better stick with Beemers then.

Was it from Charlton Motor Co as advertised in Exchange and Mart?! If so did you get it for nearer your budget?

Hi Mike - did you sell the Jag to buy a BMW (like moi!), or have you still got the Jag?

Must say my X5 seems a far better drive than the XK8, although it's much more recent.
