how do they work?

dad is beema mad, currently driving 320d and he wants a 530d.
he's had a few over the years and is good mates with the guys at the dealership (as i am...got to take a z4 for a spin!)

BUT..how do they get paid, is it still by commission?

i suupose it depends on each dealer. i ask because each time we've been 2-3 people have sold us one. who gets the commission?

A fight probably happened after you left!

Thats normal form in such situations! LOL

Seriously theres a bit of give and take, you'll generally find and an agreement will be reached between the team

every dealer is different but as the yellow spicey one says, if your dad has a good relationship with the dealer then it could get dished out - usually to the guy that does the paperwork and handover. Or, it just gets lost in the pot and no-one gets paid for it.

Bear in mind that with the TLC servicing package becoming commonplace on the Mini, 5 and 7, the cost of that is getting squeezed out of margins on new sales.

what? eh? when?

what dealer told you that... because hes lying...

our margin gets cut another 2% next year but we dont subsidise the TLC or Service Inclusive packages at all. Sounds like a sob story trying to get more money out of you to me

OK, well, that was from a mate of mine who's an aftersales manager. I might have got the subtleties wrong, but the point is BMW have to fund TLC from *somewhere*, and his clear inference was that squeezing margins was how it was being done.

ahh, gotcha... sorry

the margin is being took off us a bit next year but we get it back depending on registrations vs. target.

BMW are fast becoming a volume prestige dealer....

My better half is just about to order a new 320 td. Did a lot of homework, and we were told by a salesman, (who seemed very upfront) that the dealers commission on the list price has recently been cut to 8%. (Cut from what he didn't say). We got a discount of just over 5% on list, which is about as much as anyone gets from a BMW dealer. At least, so I'm told.

530d? new one is sensational... same torque as an M5 (not as much fun but bloody quick!) old 530d was still good... 320d's are great fun indeed

xxplod - 5% is stunning mate especially on one of those as they are well sought after. Our margin got cut from 10% to 8%. We are now at 3% discount ish... unless you know me or you PH
