Got me a bimmer so though I'd say hi :-)
Discussion
Hi all,
Ive been scooting about in my E36 bimmer for a while, so thought I'd say hello on here.
Looks just like a typical M3 E36, but if you have heard it you will know its slightly different- as its got an 840i V8 engine & box & breathes out of a lovely growly stanless decat system
The conversion was done at large expence a few years back- somat like £12k! & it has had a lot more sunseqent fiddling inc ECU mods. Pretty rare car as I belive Alpina diddnt do RHD V8 E36's so as far as I know there are only a couple of RHD conversions in the country.
Tis indeed pretty nippy- (and a lot lot quicker then my previous porker 944S2)and sounds bloody lovely its very similar in speed to bluesatins new E46M3 and has a fair bit more midrange grunt. If he revs his right to the red it does have a bit more pace but only a car length or so over a fair distance.
Oh a question its running 235/17 rubber all round, I know some M3's ran a narrower front- anyone know what that size was? I think it was 225?
Oh and an indication of tyre pressures if anyone knows would be great.

Nice looking car mate, like the "stealth"aspect too.
Not sure if this is any help but I copied & pasted it:
"as you open the drivers door there should a sticker above the stricker plate, this sticker should give you the info required.
If you have 225/45/17 on the front the minimum should be 2.2 bar and your rears should be 245/40/17 and they should have a minimum of 2.4 bar. Hope that helps"

Sadly Craig, I fear that was lost when they welded the two cars together.
Its a nice car, bit gansta/Huggy Bear for me, I'm sorting out Alex with a CD full of tunes especially for it.
Cheers Craig.
Raceboy yip it was the Domsters for a short time a while back, had lots of mods & fettling & some re-engineering in a few areas since then, but the main componants are still the same. Also I've still got a fair few bits & bobs I want to do to the old girl to really make it totally sorted in all areas.
I do like the stealth approach & its got no badges at the mo- some have recomended I badge it a 316i for ultimate stealth factor tho ha ha
Yes it does sound flipping fantastic (stainless de-cat system), it always sounded very bassy low down & mid range but now a re-mapped ECU for fueling & timing have made it rev a lot more freely- given it a big chunk more grunt & made it howl at higher revs.
Twas a bit of a rash decision purchace & I might need the £ invested in it for somat else soon- so it might not stay in the fleet too long but its certainly gunna be fun however long it stays- tho I might need a decent contact at Goodyear the way it seems to like tyres
Oh she has been named Kylie now too- as she is a bit frisky & always has her arse out

Check out your wheels first before you change the rubber. My M3 had 225 fronts and 235 rears but the rear rims were wider than the fronts. If you have the narrower rims on the front then you will be able to tell because it will look slightly over tyred with the 235s on it.
Nice car iguana!

Lovely car, are you planning to do any track days in it?
Probabaly not, as im such a fickle sod the car will almost definatly be sold & gone & replaced by somat else by the time the dry tracks return next spring- Its a bit too much of a handful in the wet & im in the process of sorting out a more budget track car that wont hurt my wallet so much if I bin it!
Its got all the bigger Eibach antiroll bars & Eibach springs mated to M3Evo running gear so it would be ok on track, (I still feel its too soft at present for serious track work tho) & if that was my intention i'd bin the Evo dampers & replace with harder & adjustable jobbies & pref height adjustable too- somat like a Bilstein pss9 kit or similar.
Still Ive got a set of Porsche big reds in the garage that fit on perfectly with new 996 discs so if I am temped they would certainly go on, as BMW brakes- even on the new M3CSL are a bit of a joke for track work a few laps in and you have no brakes!!
Test drove a standard E36 M3 (non Evo) yesterday & it was like a milkfloat in comparison, but even as standard (and the ECU has been played with by Sytners now so posibly more power/torque) mine had 310Lb ft of grunty V8 torque vs M3's 258 lb ft of screaming six pot & similar weight, so simply that has to have a positive effect
LOL, you take good care of the pimpmobile (Kylie, my arse!) Mr Iguana.
Chuck the big reds on and stiffen the suspension a whisker. It feels 328 soft on track.
I will have to have a go and see how much quicker it is now the ECU has been scrambled. It was probably only doing about 250-260bhp when I had it because of over-fuelling, so would like to see if I can notice any difference

Does that mean you have removed the '4.0 Litre High Output' badges that Domster had nicked off a Jeep Cherokee and so lovingly attached to your steed's flanks, my lizardy friend?

LOL, I had removed all those naff badges. The 'sorted' ones had me laughing for days.
I think Iguana has removed them to make way for the 'Pikey Performance - Lucky Heather Racing Team' stickers.
Ha ha you silly sod, I actually quite like that, I think that will be on my track day overalls for next year

Yip any time mate- huge difference, before my old 944S2 would have had it quite easily, now- well its a heck of a lot quicker, just ask bluesatin why his E46 couldnt get away I don't think I'll have quite the same luck with his flame throwing Ultima tho

Hello TreVoR racer boy, yip no badges at all, except the M on the side moldings. However I'm already fed up with kids in maxed up corsas etc asking me in service stations "is it an M3 mate" so I'm thinking a nice rear 340i badge might do the trick. Should save me saying- "M3, pah! no mate, the running gear except the engine is M3, however unlike an M3 this is a quick car"....
Mate of mine had a South African imported E30 330i many years back, now that badge used to confuse the hell out of people! It wasnt that much faster than the 325i I had, but then again it did have a lot more weight due to bullet proof glass & an armoured underside that could reputidly cope with land mines!!
The extra grunt however ment it was indeed a tail happy monster!!)

Let us know when you do put it up for sale. If I can fleece another couple of clients before Xmas I'll be in the market.
No probs XM5ER I will do.
