Reverse light switch assistance

Boring Q but I need to replace the reverse light switch on a 4 door 318 1993 built 12/92.

Where is the switch located?

I'm guessing down by the gearstick under the gaitor or less likely in the light cluster?

Can anyone help before I start poking about and break something else?

If I remember....it is located by the gear lever. If you take the gaiter and surround off it is situated near there. Sorry I can't be a bit more precise but I changed one quite a few years back.
I seem to remember you need 7 inch fingers.
