I have an E34 540i which I like very much

Car is being serviced at the moment and i asked the garage to disconnect the passanger airbag as we are due a baby in 5 weeks and the baby seat is going in the front.

i was quoted between £250 and £300 as the "computer needs reprogramming and a new seatbelt needs to be installed".

Is this right? Also is there any way round it? I dont want to cut corners on baby safety but it seems a lot of money.....

sound about right. it is a difficult job as you need to remove the seat sensors etc. You will also need to sign a disclaimer to the affect that you asked for it and no liability will lye with the dealer should the worst happen.I have a nine week old and prefer her to be in the back as she is a major distraction when your driving.......you just can't help looking.

Donut that is a good point.

Its more for the missus when they are out together.

Surely though the sensors dont need to be removed etc - if the airbag is disconnected it just wont go off when the sensors tell it to? ...or am I massively over simplifying things?
