I'm looking at picking up a family barge with some go, and besides those ugly Japanese things, only Audi and BMW seem to have the same ideas as me.
How do people rate them as a drive, obviously at that weight they're not going to amazingly nimble, but with the 280ish bhp on tap I'd imagine they have some poke.
Am looking to pay less around £18-20K for a 99/00 model, with a good selection of toys fitted.
Also how many manual boxed ones are there out there? All the ads seems to be for autos..

Although not as quick as an M5 they are not that far short either. Don't steer as nice as the 6 cylinder cars due to the V8 lump. Can be obtained in manuals but you will have to look hard. You want to get one with all the motorsport suspention etc. If you want M5 performance you can always get in supercharged to up to 450bhp. Linden special vehicles can do that for you. On the other hand if performance is not the bee all and end all get a 530 i/d. cheaper to run, depreciate less etc. I suggest you drive them.
