4 plus servicing?!
Discussion
On the face of it this seems an excellent idea from BMW to keep the loyalty of older BMW owners (cars not the owners )
Why then is it only optional amongst BMWUK registered dealers? Sods law but my local dealer (Ilford) isn't doing it yet several others are! The price difference on my car (E34 540i) is quite large - almost worth travelling to a garage that does do 4 plus servicing in fact.
Seems stupid to me that it isn't carried across every dealer. Anyone tries questioning this?

All the dealers are free to accept different parts of the BMW 'offering'. They are also free to charge whatever rate they like (£50 up to £110 per hour) and can negotiate on an individual basis.
If you don't need a courtesy car, tell them and ask for £50 off the price. If you don't need the car back the same day let them know they have a few days grace in case some emergency pops up - should knock a few quid off for that as well.
The cheapest option is to take it to a BMW specialist as these are usually ex-BMW technicians anyway rather than the new crop of 'fitters' they seem to employ.
Don't worry if you have a warranty either as the EU has ruled that the warranty would remain valid as long as the servicing was 'up to BMW standard' - which in this case means it will be covered even if you forget to put oil, water or filler caps back on!

Be very carful! Block exemption is not with us till 2004 and even then weather a claim is paid out it has nothing to do with brussells! but with the warranty company!
You can have the serviced were you want and keep the warranty valid as long as the parts are 'genuine BMW parts' and you must keep the proof, you will also have to pay for the work when completed and make a claim afterwards, unless you can do with out a car for weeks.
The long term most cost and time effective way to do it is find the cheapest main dealer and stick with them
