Thanks for all the talk / chat / advice on what an M badge means on a 330CI sport. Not a great deal in the performance side was the general view but ok on the cosmetic front.. If only I had more money and gone straight for an M3... But, hey I'm not a boy racer.. I mean, I am 44...!! So, that brings me on to how I could perhaps tweak it to get some more grunt out of it. Don't get me wrong it's quick now but there is always room for the odd tweak here and there... Isn't there...???

Like most well sorted normally aspirated engine, there's not a huge amount you can do. A replacement airbox and exhaust may give small gains, but frankly you'll probably just get a lot more noise and not a lot of extra go.
If you want something that will genuinely break a smile, I believe you're looking at a supercharger conversion, which run at around £6k, or so I've read.

Around £1500-2000 will see you with some schrick cams and remap. This will give approx 25hp above 4k rpm, depending on which profile you chose.
5 to 6 grand will see you supercharged with 340bhp and beating M3s.
But it will then need a decent clutch, diff, and possibly suspension and camber plates if you tracked it.

Might aswell buy a 335i!

I've got a 330Ci too, which I plan on keeping for a while. My medium term plan is to go for a supercharger.

I don't know if you can call a motor with 3 litre straight six a sleeper, but the extra oomph should surprise some folk...
