I might be in the position to be getting a new car through the company (I will be a partner of a limited partnership) and I am interested in a 335i Touring.

Does anyone know of any decent deals / leasing companies aT the moment. Is it worth me trying BMW. I am still unsure of the best way to take advantage of the VAT savings I can make by putting it through the company.

Also, has anyone here had an E46 M3 and then gone to a 335i. I am thinking of them both but the 335i is starting to win me over (mainly due to the good write up in the EVO longterm section).

Help please.

You could try your local dealer and they will have a 'Business Manager' who can give you some advice. I know that others that post on here don't recommend using BMW because they reckon there are better deals out there but I have always found BMW to be good generally. I think they have a special offer on BMW Select at the moment which is the PCP scheme I think you get £1000 or £1500 towards your deposit can't remember exactly. This is a good product for some and not for others depends how long you want to keep the car for and the sort of mileage you do etc. You might want to look at their contract hire product as then you can basically get the VAT back on your monthly payments. I think you usually pay 3 payments up front then monthly payments for the length of your agreement. At the end of your contract give it back and get something else.

Speak to Alfaspiderman.

I he's got a 335i on order, and I 'think' he is leasing it... although I may be wrong.

Been quoted £739 per month for a 335I MSport Touring with Leather, Prof Nav + TV, DAB Radio, Xenons and bluetooth.

Think I may look at finance deals on the M3.

That sounds extortionate!!

I have a 335i m-sport touring with all the toys, retail was £42k.
I put £2k in and pay £500 a month.

I bought one 6months old and saved £7k.

I did it through the company as a balance payments scheme through Lombard.

£35k
£2k deposit
£33k to finance
£515 a month over 60 months with a balloon of £10k.

Because it is balanced payments you are paying capitol off straight away, unlike leasing where you have to see the term out, so if you want a change after 18 months you will owe approx. £27k, if you want out with a lease you have to pay the remaining 18 months worth of £700. Very expensive.

Even though I put it through the company name I pay it all out of my own pocket, and then charge the firm 45p a mile for my business mileage, and I also take extra payments making it up to the same as a lease. The company are paying out no more and I save the £400 a month in company car tax.

You need to seriously sit down with your accountant and discuss options, the vat savings are virtually non existant, you need to be looking at ways you can save some proper money doing it properly.

Oh, and I came from an M3 CSL, you will miss the M3 everyday, but go and drive one again and you will see you are remembering it through rose tinted glasses, the 335i is awesome!
I have my Xede tuning box arriving today, can't wait!

Thanks, thats really very helpful. The accountant is coming to visit in a couple of weeks so I can get him to run through all the options. We are starting a limited partnership so the company will pay for the servicing, tax, insurance and fuel so although I wont be charged company car tax I would be charged about half of the lease price in tax. If this is the case it would still be much cheaper than being charged company car tax in the nromal way.

All will become clearer in a few more weeks.

Mine on a personal lease was 335i m sport , price £35,300, discounted to £29,500 otr (inc leather, heated seats, mats).

Deposit of £4499 - leaving £25,001. 36 payments of £400, residual £13,000.

You may find that what you save on VAT you end up repaying with interest in personal tax if you take as company car....

The price I was quoted did not include any Maintenance or insurance, I presume the car would come with tax.

Until I see the accountant I dont know what figures I have to play with and at least I can then start to make some enquires to find out what prices are out there.

I guess its like anything, you need to shop around to get the best price.

mine's a company car and includes insurance and full maintenance so probably not a good benchmark but the overall cost is circa £800/month (with Leather, Logic 7, xenons, plus a few other bits and pieces)

What kind of annual mileages are you guys quoting payments for?

Those rates seem a fair bit cheaper than I found although I was looking at 25000 miles a year.
