Im in the process of buying an M5 and really want to try and get the 2001MY (New lights, M3 Steering wheel, slight engine mods I think, and widescreen sat nav).

Have any of you upgraded your older 5 with some of these 'Angel Eye kits' from Hella etc I see advertised?

Also, the American sites for the M5 etc, everyone has modded exhausts... Anyone tried one? Shame to have such a beast in the armani suit etc and at not sound a bit meatier...

Thanks

I used to read that M5 site....but it's so heavily US biased (possibly the worst drivers globally) I gave up.

Re Exhausts etc - I planned to wait until the standard one dropped to pieces. You don't really notice it inside, but listening to MrsE pull off in it drags me outdoors every time.

Try Manu at Scuderia Systems (he is a PH advertiser) for M5 exhaust. He sent me a clip of one and it sounded bloody good.

I think the M5 exhaust is full stainless steel so it is unlikely to fall apart. Also it is welded into one piece so if you do upgrade it the old back boxes need to be cut off.

The exhaust on my M3 was still going strong when I sold it at 4 1/2 years old and 180,000 miles. Mind you it was quite loud by then, because most of the baffles had long since been destroyed.
