I'm going to get the 120D remapped and am planning to get DMS to do it for us.

I know there's lots of discussion on the boards about 335D's being remapped but not a lot appears to be said on the 330D remap.

Do people think it would be worth doing, I have been told it can be taken to the sort of power that a 335D puts out as standard.

Let me know how you go on with performance (and insurance!) ...

I am with swiftcover on my 330D - only £400ish with full protected n/c discount. They would not quote for 'modified' engine. Next best quote was £1000 !! I suspect a lot of people do not tell insurance.

Yes I guess that is the case regarding the insurance. I spoke with DMS yesterday to see if BMW or anyone else for that matter could tell if it has been remapped. I was told no, they can't read the ECU only write to it and therefore the onlky thing they could do is rewrite it.

Did they give you a figure for the post remap power?

TBH the figures aren't the be all and end all of remapping.
The main part is the better driveability, it makes the car much easier and smoother to drive, and overtaking doesnt always require a kickdown (if applicable).

BMWLand is a great source of informed advice.

Led me to realise that lots of people recommend the Tuningbox from Belgium.

Read this thread:

I just fitted a second-hand unit this afternoon, in about 10-15 minutes. Unbelievable. You really CAN believe the hype. And you can take it off when you change cars.
