Question - whenever I put petrol into the M3 I have serious problems with the fuel pump cutting off almost immeidately as it does when tank is full even though it is nowhere near. This means filling up takes about twice as long as it should as the pump keeps cutting off.

Any ideas why?

I have the same sort of problem, it is due to air being trapped withint he pipes, I've seen it on a few other cars aswell. I have found that if you twist the pumps nozzle about 45 degrees and do not put it in all of the way you are able to get around this problem.

I have exactly the same probelm with mine, but thats a e36 323i.

I have found you just have to keep twisting the nozzle and varying how far you put it in your refuelling hole. It is a royal pain in the arse though - So far Shell garges seem the worst for me. This is a bit of a bummer as i only put Optimax in the car now.
