I'm thinking about buying an M3 coupe (E46 I think you call it). I drove one of the first demonstrators (Y reg) back in 2001. My only critism I had of this otherwise excellent car was that the steering seem to communicate absolutely no feel whatsoever - nice and linear response though.

I seem to remember that there were some steering mods on lesser 3 series to help steering feel, and wondered if this was also the case on the M3. Anyone know or what dates ?

Cheers,

Andy.

If you go for the 19 inch wheels (BMW option) then the steering feel is noticeably improved although the ride is a wee bit harsher

Thanks, that's a good suggestion. The info from BMW is here :

www.bmw.co.uk/couk/news_browser/1,2024,COUK|001-001-----1972,00.html

although there is no mention of the M3. I think the M3 might have different steering anyway. Anyone know ?

Cheers,

andy.
