I have a 05 320d M Sport with 15k on the clock.
I am experiencing what i think sounds like wheel bearing noise from the front offside wheel, although I am also aware that the RFT's have come under fire for road noise etc. so i am not entirely sure.
I will get it back to my dealer for them to have a look, but the BMW experience to date has not been a pleasurable one and i can anticipate a lack of help from them.
Anybody have any ideas?
Also, i seem to have a problem with the same side steering when on lock, which seems to 'click' as it goes through the lock, just once but almost as though something is loose......again any ideas?
Rich.

The noise you have I would almost garanty to being tyre noise...Since the launch of run flats we have many many comments(still get 3 to 4 a week come in) about wheel bearing type noise from the front.
Because of the side walls of tyre tyre being so ridged it cause the tyres to wear in an odd maner-if you look at the tyre tread in particular the inner tread you will see it has worn into a ridge-each individual tread is higher at the front and lower at the rear,if you run your hand backwards around the tyre you can feel this-this causes a flapping at low speed, when speeded up makes a howl very similar to a bearing-the only differnce is if you weave down the road(side to side-obeying the laws of the road and not cutting anyone up)A wheel bearing howl will change note(quiter to louder)as the bearing is loaded by the weight and force car, tyre howl remains constant.
Unfortunately there is no remedy except new tyres,or swopping to standard tyres, which you can do without implication-you only a mobility kit(same as M3,mini).You could always try the rears on the fronts if they havent worn in the same way.
The clicking noise from the steering should be easily solved as there is a known case of this.

Thanks for the reply.
I don't think my wife's are RF's though
I assume her noise is a bearing then as it is the same noise but just gets a bit louder?

They will be, unless you have changed them?
