need an every day drive , up and down the motorway, prefer the 5 to an E class Merc, but which one ? ,6 or 8 pots ?, needs to be smooth and quiet, not concerned about fuel ot tax , and how good is the ipod connection ??

I don't think so, + the new 5 has now got the 286bhp engine,so even more torque. believe me take a test drive. Although the 550 sounds V NICE

How deep are your pockets ?

Diesel if you want to save money.

Eight cylinder ones for the lunatic fringe who
want more power than they can reasonably use.

Six cylinder for those who don't want to
be on first name terms with the Tax Office.

The 520 for the hat wearers and those not in a rush.

Estate if you have to lug lots of stuff.

Sport models are also available if you
want the extra bling or are likely
to be chucking this mid-size sedan into
corners a lot.

All the sizes in all the colours are
available.

Probably the 525 in a quiet colour is the best blend
of performance and economy and resale value.

Dunno about the Ipod connection - I rely
on "The Wheels on the Bus go round and round"
for music in the car.

If money and fuel economy no object, why are you bothering with anything less than an M5??

I'm just about to order a 535D M Sport with all the bits and am tempted by that colour but just can't hit the button.

Probably Carbon Black which I know is a mistake as I had an X5 in that colour and it's a bastard to keep clean!

Have you seen that paddle shift and quicker gearbox can now be ordered? - £1540 for the 530D Sport, £70 for the 535D Sport

Seems it's a new option from June build onwards and currently only appears in the 5 series printed price list

I've just secured a June delivery with that option so it is available.

What on earth is the quicker gearbox, is it an SMG type box or an autobox?

Interested to know where you can get a 13% discount? Is that on all BMW's or just 5 series?

I would also as a dealer only gets 8% margin on the 5 confused

BMW dealers get 8% on sale price and a further 6% if they hit targets. Hence total 14% which they sometimes pass on to hit target
