Any idea how I can find out the CIP version on my 5 series?
The local stealer was supposed to have updated it this week, but I can't see any evidence of this....

cheers,

UV

We are on version 25.1-the centre display is the most obvious change, the main menu is more grey,brighter...The vehicle service settings menu format changes slightly.
This do'es depend on what level the car was at before.
The majority of updates are not visable to you, they are subtle changes/mods to control units and their function.
The only way for you to find out is to ask to see the final report printed off when you program-they need this for warranty

Blackspider - I'm sure it's 25.1 and not 29.1 as you mention?

They call it Progman 25. And trust me you can tell the difference - Menu's different, If you got Professional Nav the colours are different, the car drives completely differently and the MPG will go up by at least 1-2mpg!

Nope.... just called the dealer and it looks like they couldn't be @rsed to do the upgrade. They just checked for faults, decided there weren't any and sent the car back.

Does anyone know of a dealer in the South East who will do a CIP upgrade without giving me loads of excuses...?

You can book it in at any dealer for coding, but you would have to pay for it.
Its very difficult to claim under warranty for coding unless technical have given permission or a code has been given by GT1

Depends if your car is under warranty or not? Have you got professional nav? If you have just say that it's too slow, gets stuck and the Idrive hangs - I did. Other things you can say to get a CIP update is that the CD keeps spinning after you have left the car - all these things have let people have free CIP updates as long as they're under warranty.
