I picked up the brochure for the new X5 which looks to be a good car although a £40k 3.0d is nearer to £50k with a few "required" options. I am definately interested a change from my 530d.

Does anyone know if there is to be a "Sport" version launched shortly or do you have to spec a normal version with big wheels and sports seat etc.

The sport version is being produced from this coming July. It will add £5,250 to the price of a 3.0 SE model but there are no pictures available as yet.

Many thanks "isuk" for that information. Is that a BMW dealer bulletin?

I took a look at your profile. You seem to be addicted to Porsche !! With a Cayman and a Boxter do you have a real preference or are they completely different from each other? (Sorry, not really a BMW question)

Ive just done a like for like spec comparison with our 1st generation X5 that we bought in December. That car cost £45k pre discount.

The 2nd gen car would be just a few hundred pounds short of £50k.

The media pack appears to have gone up and the pre-heater, auto dim mirrors and luggage net now are extras. Although the auto box is now standard.

londongt3 yes, it is a dealer bulletin. My girlfriend drives the Cayman and I use the Boxster on sunny days. If I had to choose between then I'd take the Cayman everytime as it is great fun to drive.

Having a Dynamic pack will make it the same spec as the outgoning X5. The M Sport version will have a body kit and be colour coded.

M sport version's will be ready for delivery in the first qtr 2008, except the 4.8 which starts production in July for Sept/Oct delivery of this year.

I have just collected a 3.0D SE to fit some screens into and it is lovely to drive. SE spec with 19" wheels and a much nicer car overall than the old X5. Was parked next to one at Park Lane and was surprisingly bigger than the old one.

I noticed a grey one near me today and they look very nice. Also struck me as very big. Surprisingly it was waiting at the gates of a small private school, some things never change eh?

Can I also recommend that the poster remove the BMW bulletin. They do tend to get a bit grumpy with websites that post "internal" material.

Saw one at a dealers last week. Looked great. Certainly looked big. Just standing in front of it I was amazed how much of a void there was behind the grill and in front of the radiator. Presumably this is part of the pedestrian impact saftey measures but it would need checking for birds nests on a regular basis! Quite impressed overal. These 2nd generation cars from BMW and Mercedes (ML) are so much better than the first. Shame that the same cannot be said for the Cayenne...
