What problems did you experience?
Well it hasn't been a great car from the outset. It had major problems with the air con and even now it is still too warm on auto. The dsc module packed up on Monday and in total in the first 8 weeks it spent 3 off the road and with the dealer.

Disappointing I'm sure, what a shame. I drove a 3.0 recently and must say that I also thought the cabin was very warm, but it was a lovely car to drive and look at. Good luck with the 1

Absolutely, it's such a shame really. I was so excited about the arrival of the car and then when it came some of the early issues with it spoilt the experience a little. Then it had a good chunk of time off the road due to the air con and sadly I never really fell truly in love with it, alhough it never did dissapoint.
The dsc packing up put the tin lid on it.
Crumbs, is it me or do you have an appetite for BMW's??
I drive a 120D (SE auto) and its a good car. Sounds boring, but then it is a 4 pot diesel. Still, not bad as diesels go either. My only gripe is the fidgety ride at low road speeds. And thats with regular suspension and 16" wheels. Not sure I could put up with the sportier handling options myself. But I hope yours is good!
Goes well and has impressive mpg's too, which improves further as you put a few miles on it.

P,
Are your tyre pressures right? I found my 318i dreadful but mainly at speed and on rough country roads. I will admit to not checking the tyre pressures but when the Z4 arrived I checked them a couple of weeks after delivery and they were all wrong. After reducing them to the correct pressure the runflats were more than acceptable.

They were wrong on this car too.. But all far too low. Like 20psi or so. I bumped them back up to 30psi thereabouts. Its better, but still a bit fidgety. As i say, it is only at low speeds, and our terrible roads are more to blame, in my opinion!
Also, it is an early 120D on its original tyres.. I read somewhere that newer cars have 2nd generation run flats? Which are apparently much better than the 1st generation run flats which my car will have.
Still, the 1 series does look a whole lot better when lower and fitted with larger wheels, granted.
P,
So sorry to hear that the Z4C didn't work out for you. I was on the verge of getting one at the tail end of last year and I think on reflection I was right in going for an SLK in the the end.
I'm surprised that the Z4C has flopped sales-wise. The impracticality is one thing but that hasn't seemed to hurt 350Z or Cayman sales and values.

P,
Also I remember reading a shoot out in a car magazine between the different brands. The Bridgestones were apparantly the ones to go for. My 3 series had them and I don't have a clue what the Z4 has.

Hmmm, I'm thinking about a new 3.0si with the Sport pack. A/c worked fine in the one I drove. Seemed pretty good fun and so much stiffer than the normal Z4, though less practical than the 911.
Make sure you get a deal similar to that on Drive The Deal. If you do then depreciation shouldn't be an issue. The problem with mine depreciation wise is that at the time the deal I got was a good one, when I double checked DTD. Now it is no where near the DTD discount which if my maths are correct is somewhere in the region of 14%, after you deduct the £1,500 finance contribution they are including.

Will do, my local dealer has already said they should be able to match. Not 100% on this as yet, still a few others to try. Already tried a 335i, 350Z. Not finding it easy to replace my 993.
Depreciation is still an issue though, with one year old's trading at 24k, retail 27k.

Exactly so with thr DTD discount at about £4k on a £34k list, you can take it to £5.5k if using bmw finance, you would be paying around £28/£30k depending on u taking their finance. So if you get that sort of deal I think the depreciation is about right.
