Hi everyone, I`m new to this section having just bought a 535D as my familywagon.

Can you help?

I`m currently gently baffling myself on the idrive nursery slopes and my satnav seems to position me between 200yds and 1 mile away from where I actually am. I much enjoyed watching myself drive through the Thames yesterday...

Am I being an idiot and failing to set it correctly or is there something wrong with it?

I had exactly this problem with the professional satnav in my 1-series. A software upgrade back at the dealer sorted it out, and it hasn't troubled me since.

Do you find visibility is very poor? If so, you probably are in the Thames.

Edited to add: I would listen to Pete above, it's probably more use than anything I have to say today

Its likely to have a HIP module problem, this calculates vehicle position from the gps to map.
First a HIP module reset needs to be carried out which is done on a GT1 at the dealer-if that doesnt work then the module needs to be replaced.

I've had experiences of new E60's and I've seen this happen on more than one occasion. Actually I've seen it on some other vehicles, both BMW and others.

It appears to have an uncommonly large sunroof so visibility was good enough to assure me I was on dry land.

Thanks - back to the dealer then!
