I am thinking of taking my car to find out what's wrong with it, and hopefully submit a goodwill claim (the rear wiper on an e46 touring doesn't work, it wiped once and then stopped working (checked fuses etc) washer is broke too)
Does the button underneath the little black thing on the rear glass open the glass (that doesnt work either)

The car was registered sep 2003 so its 3 1/2 years old, anyone know if I will be able to submit a claim?

Why should bmw fix a car that they sold 3.5 years ago and is now out of warranty?

If you go to a dealer you could ask somebody to take a quick look and give you an estimate for the repair. If you have checked all the fuses etc then its either a connection if you are lucky or the switch or motor if not.

Hi Jamoor - there's no harm in trying, but I suspect they won't do it for free. Usually, the good will thing extends to big things going wrong (engines, gearbox etc) when just outside warranty, or at least within a period and mileage where you wouldn't expect a major failure. They don't always do it all for free either...maybe they'll contribute the parts etc and let you settle the labour etc. Good luck anyway.

i wasnt expecting them to contribute 100%
sometimes they may pay 75% or pay for parts and you do labour or something like that.

Jamoor,

an E46 that I had, had a non-funktioning rear-wiper.The problem in this case was a loose nut on the wiper itself. Pop off the plastic cover and check.

I put mine in for an official BMW oil service, and having never put a car in for main dealer service, I was surprised to find that they do a full checkover of the car, leaving me with a list of things I now need to sort on it myself at home

of which there were hardly any problems - especially of a car of my cars age and milage

Go to the dealers and they will take a quick look, it might just be a simple well known fault.
