E39 525d inlet manifold failure?

My recently aquired E39 525d has just had a weird problem.

The inlet manifold has just exploded and is cracked right down the middle,the car still runs runs though.

It has done 98000 miles and is an 02 plate,im planning on getting a new maniflod but im not sure as to what caused this.

Indeed,implode or explode!!

All i knew of it was a loud bang.The car was running fine up until that point and was at a standstill not revving.

Apparently BMW dealers stock the manifold but they will not disclose why it happenes.I suspect a blocked turbo breather but cant be 100% something else isnt at fault.
