Rear off-side door, a big pain! It hasn't been locking for a while now, so I'v left having a look at it until I had time. BIG mistake. The door has now locked itself and will not unlock, worse still the bloody child lock is on so cannot be opened from inside either.
How Am I going to get the door open so I can repair the fault? I have spent about an hour playing with the lock/handle/button and no success banghead I have also had a coat hanger into the door!
Please tell me there is an easy way around this!

Can you not take off the inside panel to reveal the mechanism from the lock to the handle?

Problem here is if the door is closed the door card is pushed firmly up against the rear seat back meaning that you end up wrecking the door card to get it off.

Would removing the seat back and base allow the door card to be removed in one piece ?

Its a bugger, but unless someone has a tip (where is blackspider when you need him!!) it would seem your only course of action.

I had the same problem with my 7 series and it turned out to be the actuator. I couldn't open my door either and didn't want to wreck my door card but i found that on a really hot day the actuator would work ocassionally especially if the car was parked in direct sunlight on a very hot day. Maybe its an idea to heat up the area where the actuator is located to see if this frees it up?

I would suggest taking the car to a local garage and getting somebody to sort the problem. Got a BMW specialist close by?

Big relief! The hot weather seems to have jumpstarted the lock! It has unlocked (it won't lock now). Better have a look before it does it again!

Thanks for the repies!

Yes thats the first thing I looked at when the door opened, but I found it wasn't on anyway (I'm sure it was!). Must have been the dead-lock!

MUST REPAIR SOON!
