Went to BMW dealer on Saturday to ask about ordering a new M5 - I was told that production has ceased and there are only 5 or 6 new ones left (in Europe)! Sounds a bit ripe (and a ploy to sell their unwanted group stock). I thought that production was due to end in June. Anyone know what the true position is?

buy a second hand one, as a new model 5 is coming out in September you would have to be to consider spending out on a brand new one

mad that, i drove the actual car he ended up buying back at Damon Hill in October time!

you can buy a year old for about 43k, saving 15k on the car plus extras or my tip is a T,V or W at 28k from a main dealer with sub 30,000 miles

my tip is to read the previous topics on PH about the M5 and problems some of us have had.

The new 5 Series comes out this autumn, but the new M5 will come out at least a year later in late 2004 (I have one on order).

Price unknown, but will be more than the current one. 5.5 l V10, 500bhp - the same thing we've heard everywhere. Earliest likely deliveries autumn 2004. I don't mind waiting until early 2005, since I'll still be enjoying my M3.
