Hi all -
Just wondering if anyone's attempted this themselves, or could point me to any web links that have some information (I do have the TIS btw, which seems to cover all of the important details). The reason that I'm looking at doing this job myself is that I'd like to be able to sort out any other worn gear linkage parts at the same time, in order to improve the feel of the gearchange (which currently is the only aspect of the car which lets it down badly!) -& maybe even get my local reconditioners to replace the synchros too. I'm a fairly able amateur mechanic (having build up a few V8s and the odd twin cam engine, plus a Cobra replica in my time) but I've never had the pleasure (displeasure?!) of having to do a clucth on a RWD car from underneath and remove the 'box and all the lifting/struggling that it entails! I do have a pit in the garage however, but as it'll only be me on my own trying to do this (and I know how hard it can sometimes be trying to get the gearbox input shaft to line up with the new cluch - and thats just when outside of the car!) I don't want to end up taking on a total b@s**rd of a job which in the end I regret having attempted. I'd be grateful for any practical advice!
Cheers,
Pete.
