Xenon lights are just on your normal driving lights nothing to do with the dipped ones...

Angel Eyes ARE side lights. Simply turn the lights on properly and you can see where you are going. If the performance of these regular lights is not good enough for you, which, to be honest on the e39 they suck a bit, then go for a proper HID upgrade.

My side lights on my car are the same. I just have the standard bulbs cant see anything off those either. I'm thinking about getting angel lights for my car. Have you got the xenon looking one or the yellow tinted one??? To be honest angel lights look better stay with them.

Xenon lights are better than normal bulbs but they are an expensive conversion. My friends E46 has normal bulbs as normal drving lights, I've driven his car a few time and cant see in the dark. Guess ist a E46 and E39 thing. If you got the cash have a conversion.

hiya everyone,
thanks for the info phil,
wat are bmw about, they give you a car that is fast, and give you
no visibility at nite, is there a hidden agenda on there behalf.
how do they cope on the german autobanns, is that the reason for so many accidents, needs addressing.
wat did they have before angel eyes,?
can i adgust the dipp for a longer beam at the head lite.
my old tranny vans lites were better [m reg]

i no that the angel bit is the side lite, i,m not that daft as to drive on side lights,, billy

Have you had the beam setting checked?I have had cases where one of the suspension level sensors has failed and the lamps have gone down to their lowest point.
We dont get many complaints with the headlamps except for the early deflector type(orange indicator lense).
The HID type has a monical in the centre where the light comes through and is magnified..I have also had cases of fogging on the inside of the monical.

I would be suprised if your lamps cant be improved-whenever I have driven with these lights it has always been nice and right/clear...no problem seeing.

Warning though..the light emitted is different..as like Xenon the light is more pure and appears to be more dim but in actual fact you see alot more as the light is thrown further.A reflective type(traditional lamp)only throws the light a short distance making all things close bright....Have you tried another back to back?

Ps a xenon upgrade will set you back a fortune...lamp units, loom, control units x 3,and so on.

The oddest lamps I have driven with are dynamic xenon-this is xenon dip and main..Unlike a regular main beam which makes everything stand out nice and bright, the xenon main makes everything near and far, high and low standout as if it were daytime-its such a clear light(not bright)you can see the colours in the trees etc...takes a bit of getting used too as you cant help but look upwards as the tops of the trees are lit up.

I've always driven cars with xenon lights in the past years. The quality of the light is just so much better. I think you should take a car to the garage to have the lights check out. The can give a more professional advice. If your car is still under BMW warrenty take it back to BMW. What are your normal driving lights like? Have you changed your bulbs for a different set?

If it's any consolation my E39 528i dipped lights are the most rubbish of any of the cars in our stable.
