Anyone else not that keen on the service/intervals and Inspection due warnings.

My 1 series recently came up Service Due with a minor problem so off it went for a while-u-wait service. Came back with the OBC reset and a service stamp in the book and that I think was it. Do they actually check all the car as vehicle check box was NOT ticked on the invoice? The tyres didn't seem to be looked at at all as there is plenty wear on the outside rim of one. Car was also as mucky as I left it but that didn't bother me too much as I don't want to pay £80 p/h for someone to clean it.

Anyway I think I preferred the old services where everything was checked at once instead of going in every few months for individual items.

I know what you mean, my 1 series is going in for an "inspection service" and an "oil service" on Wednesday.
In 14 months and 31,500 miles its been in for oil service once, door handles replaced twice, a particulate filter and now inspection and another oil service. Oh and it wants a 2 year brake fluid change in June! I do cover big mileages and I suppose the intervals of around 18-19000 miles is good, but I wish they would lump them together!

Why when its going in for an "inspection" do I get asked if I want an aditional safety check for £30?

Although it's always come back cleaned inside and out, and a courtesy car has been avaliable when required.

That I am afraid is the way of CBS [Condition Based Servicing] especially if the vehicle has a service pack as that is officially all that can be done rolleyes The item has to have less than 1000 miles due to be done under service pack rules, if a second item is close to due the Dealer can make a request for it to be done at the same time as a due item to avoid the customer having a second visit too soon, but that decision is out of the dealers hands.

Generally we have a quick look over tyres and brakes anyway but this is why the 'Routine Maintenance Check' is offered as a retail addition.

What actually came up on your display? The Vehicle Inspection usually comes up time based approx two years, you can check how long you have until it is due by checking the service counter on your cluster, using the left stalk buttons and rocker switch to scroll through it.

It was a brake fluid change only. I never got asked if I wanted anything additional.

My local BMW $tealer washes my car as a matter of course at no cost, unless I have a 'while-u-wait' appointment, in which case they ask if I want it washing and offer me more coffee and croissants while they do it!

Bimmer main dealers. Terrible. I had two warranty claims for faulty angel eyes (at separate times), and they refitted both of the lights (again on separate visits), without aligning them. Once with one light pointing up and the other at the road, the second visit both so far into the ground, I could see unless I had main beam on..

On a recent Inspection 2 service, they gave me lots of piece’s of paper to prove they had changed all sorts of bits, and a nicely ticked service schedule, with my name and reg number on. Just before paying I was checking through, and noticed they had ticked all the boxes for an inspection 1 service for a 3 series (I have a 5-series, and I’d paid for an Inspection 2). They promptly said we’ll get another sheet ticked for you, in the right boxes.

They couldn’t really see my point about, why do it in the first place then, if a service dolly can just tick all the boxes…! I’d paid nearly £600 for that…! The g/f a week earlier had paid just £189 for a 25k service on a Tigra (inc. Brake Fluid change!). rolleyes
