Front tyre wear on BMW 330 Coupe 2001/2001
Discussion
Its a common thing by all accounts on german marques in that because of the high amount of camber dialled into the geometry of the RWD cars (i.e how far the wheel tilts on lock), that the inner and outer will wear more quickly.
However, its is more pronounced of the MSport models due to the slightly wider wheels and track - My fronts are heavily worn on the outer front and inner, but still perfectly legal (so says my friendly PH traffic copper friend).
Its to be noted that my rears wore perfectly when I replaced the tyres as the inner of the wheels (i.e toward the middle) wore more than the outer - which is the way it is supposed to be - as you can imagine, all the acceration forces the car to squat and wear the middle (which I do a lot
).
Obviously I may be absolutely wrong, but that was what I was told by my pretty knowledgable tyre guy...
I hope that helps - I wondered the same as well, however I'm quite happy with the way the tyres wear now.
