After reading up on chips available for my car ive come across DMS.

Although their website does not publish any figures or prices etc...

I've heard of being able to achieve 385bhp!

Why are 'chippeduk.co.uk' cheaper for the 535d? Is there warrantee not as good as DMS?

Does anyone have any experience with chipping a 335i ?

Many Thanks
Lee

DMS must make a fortune from remapping as they charge twice as much as everyone else. E-maps have been highly recommended for BMWs in the past.

why do they charge twice as much?

surely they must offer a 'better' service or they'd go out of business...?

Do you have contact details of emap?

thanks

www.e-maps.co.uk/

DMS also do a lot of high end tuning and are very well reknowned but remapping costs very little to do once the software is written.

I just had a look at the DMS website www.dmsautomotive.com/ and it appears they mostly do remappings. I had thought they did stuff like blueprinting, port polishing, turbo/supercharger cornversions etc but must be thinking of someone else.

www.ca-automotive.co.uk/ are also have a good reputation if you want more than just a remap. Again I have no experience of them but if I had some spare cash in the future...

right ive just got off the phone to both DMS and Emaps....

DMS - They say that they are having problems 'cracking' the software in the ECU, as BMW and installed some protection devices that DMS are finding hard to get around.

Although they say that they can do it now, they will not be offering it for around another 8 weeks until they are happy it has a 100% success rate and will not effect warentee...

Proposed figures are 307bhp up to 385bhp. price.... £950 + VAT!!!!

This is ridiculously expensive for a remap!

A little bit of... "if you can afford this car, then lets up the remap price because we know the owners can pay it" i think!

Anyways...

Emap....

Again they said that they are experiencing problems, but think it is about 2 weeks away from being ready. I am waiting on a call back with more detailed information.

A grand for that sort of bhp increase (78bhp) is dirt cheap, such is the benefit of turbod cars. I've just coughed up £16k for a 110bhp increase but that was chopping in my 330 for an M3 hehe If and when I get used to that I may well look into remapping it so please let us know the outcome whoever you decide to go with.

I suppose when put like that it does seem better value but, at the end of the day its only a software update that only takes an hour or so.... (as far as i know)

also a 78bhp increase is surely going to mean needing uprated brakes, clutch isn't it? and i dont want to go down that route as i dont want BMW to know it been chipped.... and with bigger brakes etc if would be obvious it has more power...

It depends on what you want the bhp increase for. If you want to track the car or love racing from the lights then brakes and clutch would be a good idea. If you just want extra oomph to get that TDI driver off your tail quicker on the motorway then you shouldn't need to upgrade anything else. It's really down to your driving style.

TDi driver!! I eat them for breakfast!

I dont intend on track use, or timed 0-60 runs, so just extra (as if it needs more) oomph from 30-70...

i wonder what sort of difference an extra 78bhp will have on performance figures..?

at the moment its about 5.5 to 60... surely it would get to 4.9ish with the chip....

That'll do nicely!

DMS is a good company to use. I've used them. I live in Wales and they will travel down to you and program the car outside your house or office. They dont just have a ready made program. They program from scratch. The result I got was awsome. You can feel the difference even thought mine is not a 335i and mine didnt increase by 78bhp but you could still feel it. Cant imagine how the 335i will feel then. The limiter will also be taken off. I highly recommed DMS!

Mines a 330Ci and that could hit 170+MPH so a 335i would probably go about that....
