I am going to look at a used E36 328i sport coupe tonight with a friend. It's a late 99/T model with 69,000 miles.

Is there anything I should be looking for on the car or in the history in particular? Do the 328i have the VANOS problems the M3's have?

Before I call up the local (and usually very unhelpful) BMW garage. Anyone have any idea when the timing belt is due to be replaced?

Any advice would be greatly appriciated. Thanks

Speak to the BMW dealer with the chassis number and they will be able to tell you if there were any nikasil (sp???) issues. I'm not an expert on this, but some of the 328's had a problem that required the engine to be replaced, most of which were done under warantee.

There are several threads that cover this in great detail.

Cheers
