My old man has ordered a 325 conv and taking delivery on 28th March, but not been invited to any launch..is this a national BMW thing or just local?

I wish they left the canvas option open - I think a classy conv needs canvas roof a la CLK or Phantom DH.

Thinking about it but not for a while yet - 335i would make for the perfect car for weekends!

Dads now getting his on launch day, which is pretty good, as they were quoting much later when ordered...assume they didnt want to promise anything and then have to push the day back. He's having second thoughts though already about the blue being too dark (Monaco)as currently got Mystic...and not over-keen on the 19" star-spokes - sure he'll lve it though when he gets it.

Well, I got my new one yesterday, 330 se, manual, Silver/Black leather. 18'' alloys and a few other bits. 400miles later and its now doing 30.2mpg. Roof mechanism is amazing. Feels quite light, but then I am used to driving 7 series/Phantom but still feels slightly under powered....roll on the 335, but boy does it attract attention! Not seen another one on the road yet. Will get some pics up when I park it up long enough.

Good colour combo, have you driven the 325? I have driven a M sport but found the ride a little crashy hence the se.

You dont drive cars at a launch, its just an offical unveiling, with drinks and nibbles.

No, I've not driven one yet.
I know from rides in E46 M Sport/Se's that the E9x M Sport is likely to be fairly stiffly sprung, and on 19's with RFT's it's only going to be harder.
But, coming from an Impreza, I'm already very well acquainted with a stiff ride!!
Cannot wait for it to arrive now - hoping we have some uncommonly good winter weather - I don't mind the cold (hence wind deflector and heated seats) just hoping for some nice sunny days - I'll be deeply upset if I have to wait for new year before I can get my top off!!!

Mine has hardly had the roof up, but tonight it had to be, just come out of London and it was bitter. The windbreak is pretty good but a pain to put back in the boot (if that's what its classed as!)but the heated seats are a bonus. If you are out this way drop me a mail and you can have a go in mine.

Of course it is with the metal roof. Let's face it, these are (very nice) posemobiles, so the extra weight is not the issue it would be in an M car. That said, this makes me even more anti the M3 cab.
