Does anyone know the most likely reason why the drivers window on my E46 Coupe ends up about 12 mm lower in the door than the passenger side (and makes a quite loud 'clonk')when fully open and comes to rest on using the 'one-touch'opener? Car has just been into a dealer who has removed the inside panel for a repair to the metalwork that they previously damaged themselves!! I suspect a rubber buffer or similar thing has become dislodged but I don't have a manual handy to check.
Thanks for anyone who replies

Either they have damaged the adjuster for the tension of the glass or one of the regulator pullys has broken off.
The most common to cause this and make the clonk as the window moves is the one of the pullys breaking off.The panel will need to come off again

Cheers blackspider,
I'll follow up your advice - as this sounds like the old heavy handed touch I've had previously on my new car. Grrrhh
