I've just bought a BMW to replace the Mondeo that was set on fire last weekend.

Its a 520i, 1985, 57k miles and quite smart and very solid.

I've worked out how most of the switches work, but there is one switch on the dash, a black rocker switch about 1/2 inch wide and inch long, its kind of low down just in front of my left knee.

What's it do?

Someone once said to me it's the electric window cutoff switch, however the one in my car doesn't seem to do anything.

F'ing samrt!!! How useful is PH!

I pushed the described switch last night and it fell into the dash, this morning the windows dont work!

All I need to do is recover the switch and windows will be back on.

My first Bimmmer, nice drive and has an element of Pimp!!

Looking smart - not sure if you'd be interested, but I'll have a set of 15" BMW cross-spoke alloys with tyres for sale shortly, are currently fitted to my 528i (as per profile pic), let me know if you're interested - really set the car off.

Gowaan - Get them!

Standard E28 metric wheels & tyres are a pain - pricey & hard to get hold of once you need new tyres. Cross spokes look the business on E28s too. Still miss mine.. A BMW without the stigma.
