One week to an MOT and my airbag light is now on continuously

Diagnostics point to a failed seat sensor for the passenger and a failed Airbag central unit.

Strange thing is that I took the failed seat sensor out and swapped it with my wifes car where it works fine. Putting her seat sensor in my car still gives both errors.

So I think my Airbag control unit is giving misleading info. Anyone got any idea whether its worth getting someone to try and recode the firmware in the Airbag unit or just go to BMW and bend over for a new unit and coding.

Anyone been down this road before?

Airbag doesnt come into an mot and the seat mat can cause several faults which can lead you to replace the control unit which isnt faulty. Its the mat and the black sensor box under seat(size of a match box)

Yep the little black box under the seat is the bit I swapped with no problem.

I'm very surprised regarding the Airbags don't need to be working for an MOT though, are you sure about that?

10mm in the swept(wiper blade sweep)area or zone A-steering wheel width to the top of the screen(as far as the wipers sweep). outside this area is 40mm.in any swept area.
