Ok book wife's 330ci convertible still under auc warranty into local sytner shop. The hard top has been rattling since they removed it to see if that was the cause of the drivers door glass not fitting under the windscreen/roof seal....it wasn't but that's another story. I also questioned the auto gearbox shift/kick down program seems either lazy to change down or once the necessary throttle position is reaches it changes down and races off! no inbetween I wanted a "they all do that sir" reassurance or no that's a bit odd.

Anyway long story short, they want to charge £100 for the roof to regrease the seals and adjust something they maladjusted and £80 to reflash the auto ecu with a program that "may improve the drive quality".

So £180 for not much but vague reassurances about the hard top they all get noisy/seals/adjust and a 5 min flash of the ecu with a program that bmw know is better than the old one but chargeable because it hasn't actually broken just reducing my enjoyment of the brand!

This gradual reduction in the service and post sales package is really peeing me off BMW, might as well buy from auction and buy an ESIS/ETKA cd off ebay and learn to do it all myself, fed up with arguing the toss with service personnel. So they have washed/looked at a vehicle , have got no payment, I have wasted my time and been peed off. I would have paid an hours labour for the above work £80 say but not £180 they can find some other mug. Lexus is looking attractive at this point, BMW suffers from to many trivial problems that either should be fixed as part of a poor premium product or things are not fixed the first time of asking/paying. Rant over! Just think this is a real lose lose situation for both of us.

Sorry to hear about your experiences with Sytner. Depending where you are located I would suggest giving a different dealership a call (they are not all the same)

I can personally reccommend Cooper Tunbridge Wells in Kent. Although steer well clear of Lind in Maidstone as they dont take you seriously if you dont turn up in a 7 series! Argh! still hate them!

Not all dealerships are the same, try a different one, its the only way they will improve aswell.....

good luck.

Your doing better than me, I managed 5 months I'd had enough of the incompetence/disinterest that prevented me having a car I could rely on. I won't be bothering either them or BMW GB again to supply me with cars.

Then they phone me last week to ask how I was getting on - I thought I'd made my feelings quite clear over a year ago.

We had a very bad experience buying a new mini from what was Bridgegate (Derby) now renamed Stratsone or is that Twatzone?
Just ordered a 330DSE coupe fromm Sytner, only time will tell; they have been good as gold so far servicing the Mini.
As another poster said, change dealers to get a better experience; but one of the big downsides of modern cars is theyre brim full of technology which is great when it works, but complex/costly to understand/re program when playing up.
Has the car always had the suggested software related problems, or have they got worse?
You have to ask yourself why it was at an auction, and maybe you saved enough money on a normal deal to pay for the little things that have gone wrong, or perhaps get kitted out to fix them yourself? Only a thought.
