e39 roof bars

does anyone know if the standard roof bars for a touring e39 will actually fit the saloon too?

Believe so the bars themselves appear to be the same length etc.If your touring had roofrails you would obviously have to buy the feet which you seem to be able to buy separately from BMW. Given OE part prices it may be cheaper to buy through eBay though.

That is assuming that you started out with the Profil 2000 system! It seems that you would buy the system (bars, footpacks and fittings) as a whole for either the saloon OR the touring but that the bars are common between the two it's the fixing "bits" that make the difference. Hope this helps.
