E39 Touring weird electrics - HELP BLACKS
Discussion
Title supposed to say HELP BLACK SPIDER btw
Having some strange problems with my motor....can anyone shed any light?
About one week ago start the car and the levelling suspension light stays on but there's no visible sagging and the car drives exactly as it should. I also replaced 2x air springs a few weeks ago so they're not shot.
Also notice the indicator repeat signals (the one's in the dash) are not coming on but the actual indicators lamps are working OK.
After a few minutes the light went out and everything was normal.
It did this a few times and I went on holiday for a week.
On return the following is happening.
No indicator repeat lights on dash
Remote Central locking - sometimes works sometimes doesn't
Self level warning light always on
Rear wiper not working (stuck halfway up screen)
Reversing light not working
reverse sensors not working
The clock on the radio no longer there but radio works OK???
Steering wheel radio controls not working
Speed sensitive radio volume adjust not working
Warning buzzer door open/lights on not working
Another new thing - on the trip back from Newcastle to Leeds I noticed the temp gauge(usually stays put in the middle regardless of temp) was fluctuating between the middle and the first quarter marker.
Suitably pi$$ed off anyway, I hate electrical problems, especially one's like this!
Any ideas? I'm thinking maybe the battery is on the way out?
Many thanks

Mate you are a fuking star! Seriously, you just saved me untold heartache, inconvenience and a trip to Halfords for a 70quid battery.
I was using that space to store some jump leads and other dog related stuff, took it out and all back to normal. I suspect the jump leads may have been causing some kind of short between the body and casing to the CD changer module...probably.
Surely that's the cheapest fix on a BMW with a list of faults longer than your arm??
thanks again...really, really appreciate it

Note to self... only store things in the OffSide compartment!
