Sorry to ask more questions!

Just bought a 2005 X5 3.0d sport with full comms.

Can I get either just a simple AV jack fitted or preferably a fully intergrated ipod interface fitted?

Thanks again for any help.

Regards,
Greg

There is a step-by-step guide here, and you can have an original BMW cable (which I actually have, never installed, PM if interested) for an AUX-in

Depends on your set-up but I have the Gateway 400 which gives me full iPod control, including steering wheel track change and volume etc.

It simply plugs in the loom between the car and the multi CD (you can still use the multi CD) and away you go.

The interface is a bit fiddly but the sound quality is good and it works!

Have to say that the above mentioned AUX in system is utterly dumb in electonic terms...! Have a lookie at this as an alternate. Full control through your steering wheel etc.

So is Olf's suggestion the best one?

It would be great to just leave the ipod in the glove box forever and have normal access via the sat nav screen and display as you do on the ipod normally.

Either Olf's or the one I have.

Can't speak for his but the Gateway is an upgraded Icelink plus which has been around for a while.

Have a look here www.ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk/iPod_Car_Kit/Multiple_Device_Adapters/Dension_Gateway_Interfaces/Dension_ice%3ELink_Gateway_400

Whoops, sorry, it's me thats out of date. The gateway has superceded my suggestion. I have the icelink plus which is the older version which I am very happy with. The Gateway is todays solution!
