My 318i Lux Touring has a cat fitted and its a L Reg. 1993
Can I remove the cat or is this year a legal requirement. (some say 92 or 93)
Will it make any difference to the power delivery or drive?

Your thoughts on this are most welcome. Had thought about putting in a cat replacement pipe to pop on every year then put cat back for MOT?

L Plate post Aug 1992 - needs cat for MOT

Choice is as you say if you want to remove and replace with a de-cat pipe then the cat needs to go back on every year for the MOT

Not true.

If it can pass the emissions test without it then it doesn't need it.

Agreed but 99.99999999 % of the cars can't - they can get close on petrol but close isn't a pass

LPG however is a different matter
