BMW extends M Sport range

Now available with Coupé and Convertible

none
BMW 320i M Sport
BMW 320i M Sport
BMW 130i M Sport Limited Edition
BMW 130i M Sport Limited Edition

BMW's extending the M Sport concept to the 3-Series Coupé and Convertible; BMW already offers M Sport variants in the saloon range. There's also a new limited edition M Sport 1-Series.

Now seen by BMW as the flagship -- until the M3 arrives -- the M Sports get more kit, uprated interiors and underpinnings, and an aerodynamic bodykit.

So what do you get? An body styling package gives the cars a more sporting look, while sport suspension with a stiffer, and 15mm lower, set-up provides a more focussed ride. All models come with 18-inch M star-spoke light alloy wheels as standard with a differently styled 19-inch M Double-spoke light alloy wheel as an option. High-gloss Shadow line exterior finishes to the window surrounds is also a standard feature.

Inside, you'll see sports seats upholstered in blue Alcantara, anthracite headlining, M designation doorsill finishers and a short-shift M gearlever with a perforated leather gaiter and handbrake lever. Brushed aluminium interior trim and M-badged leather steering wheel complete the package.

There's a limited range of colours, just metallic silver, black blue and graphite, and non-metallic white and red.

According to BMW, M Sport models account for more than three-quarters of all saloon sales.

Prices start at £28,330 OTR for a 320i M Sport Coupé rising to £37,745 OTR for a 335d M Sport Coupé. The entry-level 320i M Sport Convertible costs £32,255 OTR while the range-topping 335i M Sport costs £40,250 OTR.

130i M Sport Limited Edition

The 1 Series M Sport Limited Edition arrives in spring and is based on the 265hp 130i.

All models are in metallic black with a lemon (yuk?) leather interior sitting on 18-inch WTCC-style alloys.

Other differences include chrome surrounds to the windows and a bespoke monikered start/stop button. This is in addition to the standard M Sport equipment that includes silver interior trim, anthracite headlining, M Sports steering wheel and doorsill finishers, along with sports seats, a short-shift M gearstick, sports suspension and the aerodynamic bodykit.

Only 160 BMW 130i M Sport Limited Edition cars will be available in the UK priced at £30,270 OTR.

Hmmm, my comment on this appears to have been cruelly ignored in a separate thread, so:

Eh? Doesn't look black with a lemon interior to me!

E92 looks good with a wide bumper-grille instead of the chipmunk-look of the standard car's bumper and the 'sport' item that came out as an option a while back. 320 is bloody expensive at £28K though - I'd expect a 325 (which isn't on the list) for that much.

Hmmmm that looks like a lovely shade of blue! That could look nice in the flesh if it wasn't actually black!!

Thats what i thought - thats a really nice colour!

That with a tan interior would be gorgeous (if it weren't on a 1 series, obviously...lol)

I'll have a new V8 M3 in that colour please....

Expensive and disapointing. Not as elegant or subtly sporty as the E46 Sport and very expensive. £40k for a top convertible before extras, so that's a £50k car then. I'm sure they will sell like hot cakes, but personally I'd wait a season for a nice used 997 to come in to view at the same price. You'd have to really want the latest model to choose an E90 Sport over a mint, low miles E46 for half the price.

I understood the 1 series M Sport LE had Carbon Black Paint and a duo tone interior.

And all this "limited edition" rubbish to go with it. Who buys into this cr*p? Get yourself a decent used 996 for that money instead of a pimped up and overweight shopping trolley (after a crash that is...)

£30,000 for a 1 series!!! thats ridiculous!

I however have to vouch for BMW here, the 3 series is a fantastic car. I picked up 2 weeks ago an E90 335i M Sport.

and i struggled to think of anything else that came close for me....

I wanted a car thats well built, reliable, comfortable, practical, has 4 doors, is a serious drivers car.

The only thing that came close was the Audi S4, which is alot more expensive (once options are added reletivly) and its slower!! The mercedes C55 AMG is even more expensive and only a tiny bit faster....

The 3 series no matter what engine you have is a fantastic car in nearly every situation, all you need to decide is how fast you want to go as to what engine you have....

I guess they're trying to make their warranty prices look less ridiculous by inflating their car prices by silly amounts too!

And hmmm, let's see... a 320Ci sport with a couple of options... or a 130i... or a two year old 645Ci. Bit of a no-brainer really, though my £30K would be spent on a Ferrari 328 instead.

Sniff Petrol are going to get some mileage out of this!!!

I'll take an M-Sport 335 cab in a couple of years, when their used prices drop below £30k - will be one hell of a car for that dosh.

now think that your going to be covering 25 - 30k mile a year and this is going to be your everyday car for the next 3 years.... would you still consider the Ferrari?? Or the 2 year old 6 series for that matter? (out of warentee, 645 an expensive car to fix it things go wrong)

as an "eveything" car for about £40,000 they are very very hard to beat!

but its old! and if something goes wrong its going to cost loads to fix on that sort of engine, not a practical car for 4 yers and 70,000 miles is it.

Buy one from a BMW dealer with a warranty. It may be old, but I'll argue that it is faster and has more kudos than any E90 or E92 3 series, 335i included, for half the price.

Really? When looking at the BM used car website, why is it three-quaters full of SE spec cars..
