Hi there,

Am thinking about ordering the above and was just wondering whether anyone wishes to share their views on the car with me?

I would be doing circa 15000 pa and need space for golf bats.

I have arranged a test drive for the middle of the week and am in love with the shape but not so sure this on type of car for my mileage, does anyone on here use it for this amount of mileage.

I would be going Grey with Red or Black leather still undecided.

Nearly bought a 630 but turned out to be a bit dull so cancelled and am looking for a bit of un before kids come along.

Also - I asked a dealer whether they would let me borrow one for an afternoon, and they declined any thoughts???? not sure whether a 20 min blip driving is going to give me a good enough indication of whether it suits my needs or not??

Many thanks

Joe

Hi Joe,

I have ordered Stratus Grey with Black and I think another pher has ordered Stratus Grey with Red.

I would suggest you take a look at the BMW AUC website for some colour combos.

Im going to be doing 20-24K a year in the car. Not sure about golf clubs but I was suprised at how big the boot is when compared to the Z4M Coupe (which has it's battery in the back).

How far do you think you would be from Swindon. I can recommend Dick Lovett and if you contact EL77 on here he may be able to help re a test drive, although I couldnt guarantee you would get half a day.

Joe,

We use ours for exactly that level of mileage p.a; no problems at all - its a mini-GT after all. Good move on cancelling the 630 - they are a touch dull to drive compared to the Z Coupe; autobox+extra weight saps economy and performance...

Feel free to post any more questions about the ownership experience!

cheers,
Steve

Cheers gus,

Im in South London so D lovett is a bit out of the way, but thankyou anyway.

With the sport I have read a few reviews that say the ride is v harsh , whats you opinions on that?

Also how would you rate the gear box?

Also Halogen lights are standard, are these similair to Xenons or more like normal (headlights).

Thanks again

Sport suspension is firm - but one mans firm is anothers pillow-soft ride; I think the mantra is to try the different setups before you buy.

Gearbox is excellent - precise, mechanical, quick

Those headlamps are not xenons, but are pretty good - we didn't spec xenons as they seem to be of limited use.

I think Joe they are normal lights like on my 3 series. Our X5 has something different, that are more like xenons but aren't!!!! Those are excellent and it's a shame they don't put them on the Z4.

Regarding suspension, as Trackdemon points out, the Sport setup is very firm. I found it a bit too firm for my tastes and went for SE spec. It has to be said that SE spec is still pretty firm - I guess its a matter of taste.

Excellent choice of car either way!

I also agree with TD on the headlights issue. I'm not sure I agree with Xenons on principle (due to their tendancy to dazzle on-coming drivers). Anyway, I have no complaints about the standard ones on mine.

Maybe when yours (and Catherine's) have arrived, we get them all together and ask Trackdemon to take some of his fantastic photos??

Ive had a last minute change on spec, due to the dealer who had the original car quoting on it at the weekend.

So I now have a car coming that is on free release.

The specification is

Stratus Grey
Black Dakota
Comfort Pack
Bluetooth
Sun Protection Glass
Heated Seats

So I go away for the weekend having ordered my new, rare, Z coupe (with sports suspension- ooohh!) and it appears they are now all the rage! Ha- welcome to the Z Coupe owners club everyone!! driving

How come my car's not arriving until June then??

I was thinking the same Garlick, they seam to be very popular.

Not sure why yours is not arriving until June. I was quoted May for a factory build. Certainly if you are not very very picky on spec there are quite a few cars physically availaable. Certainly I was offered at least one Black with Red interior but I don't know what the spec was.

Mine was in North Wales as Free Allocation. The other car I was going to have, was a dealer display car and they wouldnt release it until they spoke to their own potential client that they had discussed a deal with over the weekend.

I'll check with the dealer on delivery, my spec is

Z4 3.0si Sport Coupe, Ruby Black metallic with Dream Red leather. Options wise, it has a Comfort Package (multi-function steering wheel, storage compartment package and Park Distance Control), 18-inch composite alloys, Xenon headlamps, Navigation system, BMW Assist and Bluetooth telephone connectivity

TBH, I quite like the thought of a car being built for me rather than one that has sat in the showroom with everyone getting in and out of it (but that's IMHO of course)

Regarding the sports suspension, I have the sports chassis option on my Boxster S, while it looks great with the wheel/arch gap kept to a minimum it is a firm ride and scrapes on speedbumps, but I just had to go for it again. Ask me again in July if it was the right choice!

Jeez, at this rate we're gonna have to ask Ted to setup a seprate Z Coupe forum!! Group photoshoot would be great - we should try and get someone to join the Classic Car club and borrow their white Z4M Coupe. It looks the cahona's

No need to ask Ted! Just ask me- he is sitting opposite me right now!

That photoshoot is a great idea- maybe a Z coupe collective at Pistonfest too?

Is that Edward Lovett's old car? It had black wheels if I remember correctly?

Excellent... so a sunny Saturday in June? Maybe somewhere near the sea? "Z4Cs do Brighton"??

Happy to leave choice of location to you, TD, as my artistic flair is negligible...

Would be nice if we could have our own little forum.
