V8 engine converion for E30

Hello,


Does anyone know if a V8 from say an M60 (730i, 740i etc) or M62 (540i etc) would fit into an E30, would there beproblems encountered with regards to the chassis and with the size of the engine in to the engine bay itself? I believe these engines are quite light for their weight though if if I'm correct.

There is a chap who has an E30 M3 with a V8 from a Monaro (IIRC). It's a tight fit, but is absolutely awesome. I think it's finished in Orange Jaegermeister colours, but can't remember 100%. Has been in Performance BMW magazines etc.

i'm planning on droping a mustang v8 into one, i'll let you know how it goes!

yeah he had the engine from a pontiac GTo into an E30 , also seen an 850 CSI v12 into an e30 before. tight but went. only about 20kg over the 325 engine or something silly like that.

It's a bloody big engine - not sure what manual box would mate up to it either?

I have an E36 with a 540 motor and a 5 speed manual box from a 530 (V8), they are hard to find , but they are out there. The E30 swap mentioned has been done a few times and with the right parts is not that difficult.
